Stage Manager (Part-Time Stipend Position)

Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company (WCDC) is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Stage Manager to support the production of four annual concerts, including two site-specific performances. Key Responsibilities

  • Performance Coordination

    • Call cues backstage during performances

    • Pull curtains and run projection/lights/music during shows

    • Play sound files from your own device for outdoor or site-specific performances

  • Venue & Technical Liaison

    • Serve as the main contact for performance venues regarding technical needs

    • Assist choreographers with basic lighting education and design

    • Create lighting looks as needed and rent lighting equipment

    • Conduct minor music and video editing tasks

  • Flooring & Equipment

    • Transport and lead volunteer teams to install/remove marley flooring (2x per year)

    • Store, transport, and sometimes create props and set pieces

    • Set up and break down event elements (lighting, tech, props, etc.)

    • Operate projectors and other basic AV equipment

  • Logistics

    • Collect and organize all sound files for performances

    • Coordinate volunteer support and maintain smooth backstage operations

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in theater or dance production/tech

  • Comfort with basic lighting, projection, and sound systems

  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to lead volunteers

  • Ability to lift and transport equipment when needed

  • Willing to use personal device for music playback at select events

  • On-the-job training provided; willingness to learn and take initiative is key!

Compensation & Hours

  • Flat stipend of $1,000 for approx. 57 total hours of work

  • Flexible schedule for most duties, with required in-person attendance on:

    • August 26 in Provo, evening

    • November 5 in Provo, evening

    • November 12-14 in Orem, evenings

    • April 1 in Provo, evening

    • April 9-11 in Lehi, half days or full days

    • June 13 in Orem, full day
